Post-16 citizenship event to launch a new online tool for whole organisation improvement

Thursday 18 March 2010, London

Dear Colleague

We warmly invite you to join us at our post-16 citizenship training day. The event will launch the new online tool ‘Building a citizenship-rich organisation, an e-tool for whole organisational improvement’ taking place in London on 18 March 2010.

The tool builds on Play Your Part: Post-16 Citizenship Guidance (QCA, 2004) and encourages more strategic, whole organisation, approaches to post-16 citizenship provision.

It is organised around a series of issues which will allow the user to understand how citizenship education can support a variety of high profile agendas such as Every Child Matters and the Common Inspection Framework, learner voice, community cohesion, and the prevention of violent extremism.

About the event

This event will launch the new online tool and provide an opportunity to participate in activities from the resource and hear from senior leaders who have already successfully placed citizenship learning at the heart of their organisation.

What are the benefits of attending?

You will have the opportunity to:

  • find out how the e-toolkit can help you improve citizenship delivery across your organisation  and understand the policy agendas that citizenship learning can help to support
  • try out some of the features of the tool and related activities
  • learn from examples of best practice
  • network with other delegates with an interest in citizenship education.

Who should attend?

The event will be of interest to staff in colleges, schools sixth forms as well as in training providers, offender learning and youth and community settings delivering or planning to deliver post-16 citizenship. It may be of particular value to staff responsible for co-ordinating  citizenship provision including senior leaders.
